Well the holiday is over and the visitors have gone home, it seemed to go so quickly. I'd like to thank you and Jaqueline for everything you did with the bookings, it really was a wonderful trip.
The following is by no means a reflection on you but I feel that, in your line of business, you should be aware.
You know about the confusion with accommodation at Punda Maria, we had it again at Pretoriuskop but it was quickly resolved.
Restaurants at Letaba, Olifants and Satara are closed but no one would give a straight answer as to why. Bush kitchens have been set up but it is all very unprofessional and limited.
Maintenance is badly lacking.
Mopani was awesome - never been there before - and we were in a 3 bedroom house on the dam which was breathtaking BUT the next morning I noticed all the fly screens had holes in them and there was a huge web full of insects in one of the bathrooms.
Somewhere, can't remember, the fly screen in the bathroom came off when I opened the window and the sill was filthy.
Letaba or Olifants (another memory lapse) the kitchen area was, frankly, disgusting.
The outside tour operators are totally out of order - inconsiderate and sometimes dangerous.
Jo & Liz did a night drive at Berg-en-dal and it was so bad we could only laugh about it afterwards. Apparently the guide was driving so fast he missed everything and didn't stop when someone shouted even for a porcupine or hyena. They couldn't understand what he was saying and think he may have been drinking!! The up shot was not one of the 20 or so people on the drive gave him a tip.
As I said, this is in no way a moan at you. I just feel very sad that after 30yrs of visiting the park it has come to this. It didn't spoil our holiday but other overseas visitors may not see it that way. The Jewel in the Crown will soon be no more if they go on like this.
Thanks again to you and Jaqueline for all you did.
