Idube Private Game Reserve situated in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in the heart of South Africa`s premier wildlife conservation area. Game viewing from open Landrovers accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers is outstanding, with the Big Five seen really close to vehicles.
Idube exclusive lodge has ten en suite chalets, each individually decorated, with air conditioners, overhead fans and high ceilings. Each suite has attractively decorated with draped mosquito nets giving a touch of safari romance. There is also mosquito gauze on doors and windows. The private wooden decks have been added to each suite and the word has spread, becoming a firm favourite place for guests to enjoy both the tranquility of the lodge and a place to view visiting animals.
Enjoy a little romance and the adventure of showering under the stars and listening to the gentle hoot of an owl or the call of a far off jackal. Whether you make your wine selection from the bar or visit our cellar, Idube are certain you will find something special to enjoy.The best of South African wines are selected with care, and we are sure that you will enjoy trying different wines.
Indulge in game viewing over meals and the covered deck has no walls to block your enjoyment. This is where we serve a full breakfast, delicious long lesiurely lunches and tempting teas.
The colourful open lounge deck combines comfort with a great view of the riverbed as well as those African animals coming down to drink at Shadulu Dam or to graze on the lawns. Relaxing around our boulder pool is a superb place to be in the middle of a warm day. Stretch out under the african sunshine or under a shady canopy of trees whilst you watch the birds as they swoop and dip round the water.
For those guests wishing for an extra dose of exercise for the day, Idube has a gymnasium with modern equipment which will allow you to a full work out. Equipment includes amongst other items: a Roman chair, a selection of free weights, a treadmill and an exercise bike. The gymnasium is privately situated and cooled by overhead fans.
Step onto the gently swaying bridge and cross over to the sunken hide and you are able to look directly onto the dam and watch the animals as they cross untroubled in front of the hide.
After an exciting night drive, guests gather at the thatched bar to swop tales of all their great sightings. Then it`s time to enjoy a feast in the boma under moonlit african skies.
Idube`s talented chefs combine the best of European and African cuisine, and venison is featured regularly. Rangers sit with guests at all meals, so you can continue hearing the best of bush tales. Dinner in the bush is always an occassion a guest will remember as from the time you arrive you see the firefly light of many lanterns which contributes to a special atmosphere. Mouth-watering smells drift into the air as you stand around the fire and Glasses of red wine glow in the firelight, with darkness and the bush beyond the magical circle of sand. As you sit enjoying traditional South African food, the quiet conversation of the guests is broken by the awe-inspiring roar of a nearby lion or predatory hoot of a spotted eagle owl on the hunt.

Activities at the Lodge:
Idube offers great Bush Walks lead by your Ranger every morning after breakfast. It is an absorbing experience, as well as a chance to shake down all that fabulous food. Emphasis is on looking at the small things not easy to pick up on the drive and you will be amazed what knowledge you can come away with by simplying experiencing a Bush Walk. Your Ranger and Tracker will a an abundance of stories and facts to tell you about the traditional uses of plants, tracking animals, insects and other fascinating details.

Activities and Facilities

18 Janaury to 19 December 2013 – R3500 per person sharing. Children sharing R2240 per child, 8 to 12 years old.
The fully inclusive rates include:
- luxury accommodation in en-suite, air-conditioned chalets,
- 3 full meals daily
- All teas and coffees, afternoon tea,
- 2 game drives daily in open landrovers and a safari walk. Game activities are with skilled and well-trained rangers.
The rate excludes:
- Transfers, Ulusaba runway fees if applicable
- Bar bill, soft drinks
- Telephone and fax calls, curios, gratuities, items of a personal nature
- R120 per vehicle entrance and R30 pp into the Sabi Sand Wildtuin for self drivers.
Transfer rates between Kruger Mpumalanga airport and Idube are available on request. The drive between KMIA and Idube takes approximately an hour and a half and is done in an air-conditioned vehicle.
